this is a swell season

well let me start by saying that if you missed the swell season on saturday night at the north chuck performing arts center, you missed a treat. glen hansard and marketa irglova were true, engaging professionals on stage and even conversing with the audience alittle. there was a couple assholes behind us that would not shut up. talking through every song, loud too. what the hell? they'd paid for the tickets to see a show but were freaking talkin. well my daughter, tillye, who doesn't take crap from anybody, set them straight and they left. rock on tillye, i trained you well. if you ever get a chance to see them - do it. and go buy their new album, strict joy, you won't be dissappointed. attached to this entry is a couple new posters my man, mark lawrence, just finished screening: zac brown who will be at the family circle cup tennis center on june 5 and the great havenots will be hosting the 10th year of piccolo fringe at several venues. looks to be another great two weeks of comedy! these 4 color hand silkscreened posters will be signed and for sale at theater 99 as long as they last.

eyewash artwork

here is an early seventies (i think) eye wash emergency sign i found at my friend, matt decells' new shop. he moved to another cool ass old navy base warehouse space. awesome place. industrial, huge, heavy duty, dirty, metal, strong. it's as if they said one day, "close the base." and everyone just dropped what they were doing and walked out. incredible. i have also included some hipstamatic shots from the other night there. the first one is woody yelling "Williams! where are those qR 12-A saw blade requisition forms?! Johnson in the Bldg no. 545 can began until the union has those danged forms!"

new spoleto poster

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
i can't sop laughing everytime i think of this poster. no disrespect to the artist, maya lin, she is a force unto her own. but this poster cracks me up. i know where she got her inspiration. that will make you laugh as hard as me.(huh uh, i said hard, uh huh) that is the funny part. the sad part is spoleto festival usa is part sponsor of the halsey institute of contemporary arts' show during spoleto, "Call and Response: Africa to America, The art of Nick Cave and Phyllis Galembo". The opportunity to capitalize on these amazing artists work was missed. word on the street is nick cave offered to make one of his amazing sound suits specifically for the poster. think about how much fun the windows of king street would have been with that as the basis for the merchants! not to mention the amount of people exposed to this one of a kind art show. instead, once again we are left to look at a spread from an atlas with holes in it. nice holes, i must say.(huh uh, i said holes, uh huh). i think caitlin upton says it best"...because some people out there in our nation don't have maps..." hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
